Make this career investment a top priority
I am an impassioned multicultural and multilingual Biology/Biotechnology Educator and Educational Consultant with extensive expertise, a Master’s degree in Molecular Biology and Genetics, and a Master’s degree in Education. I have dedicated my career to teaching, elevating the quality of biology and biotechnology education programs, and updating them to keep up with the latest developments and bridge the gap between the academic theoretical approach and the industry’s practical needs. My well-developed pattern of contribution and achievement at several institutions in MA and CA was fueled by my extensive background and subject matter expertise in molecular cell biology, biotechnology, genetics, and microbiology, as well as my proficiency in a wide range of lab techniques and their real-life applications.
In 2016, I joined the Biotech Bridge Training Academy as Instructor and Content Specialist to focus on workforce and career development training that prepares adult learners for biotechnology careers and/or education pathways. The pandemic sparked me to start up my own biotechnology career development business to expand the scope and impact of my work.
As adjunct professor in the LA area, I taught at multiple community colleges and CA State University, LA. Prior to that, I was an Associate Professor at Bunker Hill Community College in MA, where I designed and developed the curriculum for a two-year Associate degree with a biotechnology option for employment and a transfer option. Throughout my career, I provided consulting services on best practices in Biotechnology education and career readiness to high schools and industry partnership programs.
My experience in teaching and mentoring a multicultural and remarkably diverse student body has afforded me a sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socio-economic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of students.
I am a facilitator for educators' professional development programs on anti-bias and social justice education, which focuses on building strategies for culturally responsive teaching, developing social media literacy to combat hate, and integrating social emotional learning as an equity-based strategy. I am a docent at the Museum of Tolerance (LA), where I volunteer as exhibit tour guide.
I thoroughly enjoy being a life-long leaner and contributing to Biology/Biotechnology education as well as anti-bias education and community building initiatives.
